England announced ODI squad for Sri Lanka tour 2018
England has announced its ODI squad for the upcoming tour against Sri Lanka. Liam Plunkett won’t be available for the series & an interesting replacement has been made in the form of a fast bowler replacing the all-rounder. There has been some new inclusions in the team too. Replacement Of Liam Plunkett Announced:
Warwickshire Fast bowler ‘Olly Stone’ has been named as the replacement for Liam Plunkett by England Cricket Board for the ODI series against Srilanka. Olly Stone has been given an opportunity to impress in English colours, Olly will turn to 25 on the eve of the first match is the only uncapped player on the tour of the party. Since recovering from a knee injury in June 2016, he damaged his anterior cruciate ligament while celebrating Moeen Ali’s wicket. Olly has consistently been one of the fastest bowler on county level.
Inclusion of Sam Curran:
David Willey is also going to miss Srilanka tour due to Back-Injury, Sam Curran has been included in the team as a Left- arm swing bowler and hard hitting all-rounder. Sam was the show stealer during the test series against India, which earn him a place in the England ODI team.
Return of Tom Curran:
Sam Curran’s brother Tom Curran is returning to English Color once again after suffering side strain problem earlier this summer, which mean both brothers can be seen playing together for their nation for the first time.
Exclusion of Sam Billings:
To support England’s Top- Order batsman English Cricket Board has selected some all-rounders in this process Kent’s Wicket-Keeper Batsman ‘Sam Billings’ has been opted out. Sam Billings is a regular player for England, especially in the limited overs format, but fail to impress against Ireland and Australia earlier this summer.
Selection of Spinners:
On the slow bowling front England has selected Mooen Ali, Adil Rashid and Liam Dawson. Liam Dawson got the opportunity just due to his all round performance or else Matt Parkinson from Lancashire might have a contender.
